New Year, new colours.

Let’s talk

earthy tones.

If you’re looking to redo your home’s interior this year, whilst being bang on trend, these are the colours we think will work best. While consciousness around the planet and issues concerning its health are arguably at an all time high, our recommendation for this year also tip a hat to the earthy tones, colours and shades.

We’ve mentioned in the past how colours affect us both mentally and physically, and if you make changes to any space around the house, the way it makes you feel is paramount. The emotions these colours evoke go hand-in-hand with people’s desires to become more sustainable, natural and aware of what they’re using and why.

For the neutral colours, think tones of brown, orange, green and even blues. All of these colours, regardless of the shades they’re in, appear in nature, and reinforce that same sense of calmness and tranquillity. As the past few years have whizzed by at breakneck speed, let’s make 2023 about slowing down, reconnecting with the earth and creating spaces at home that you want to spend time in.

Remember that earthy tones will not only create different dynamics in the spaces they’re in, but by selecting the correct tones and hues, you could also create a space that makes people feel different. For your next home renovation project, why not grab a few more earthy tones and see how they’ll transform the spaces in your home.

For rooms that need a little bit of light, whites with earthy undertones can work wonders. Light pink and peach undertones can create a calming and peaceful space, these colours also pair beautifully with other colours in our palette for this year. Light neutrals can really enhance a space, and picking the right one isn’t as complicated as you might think.

If you’d like to inject some energy into your spaces, think of the colours of an African sunset – dusky, yellows, oranges, and pinks. For calming spaces, greens remind us of the outdoors, fertility, of slow living and of sustainable choices – it also happens to pair very easily, so it could really be the perfect addition to your interior.  Earth’s palette is however not only earthy browns, oranges and greens, but 75% of the planet is blue, after all. Blue is an extremely versatile colour and the right shades can have a profoundly serene effect on the spaces they fill.

So think of it this way, when you’re looking around for the next colour to paint, or for the next project to undertake, picking the correct colours is so important. We hope that our suggestions for what the trends will be this year have helped you pick the perfect colour paint for your home’s interior.
